Hear ye, hear ye · the fifth annual faire

Welcome to the Faire

As you step through the gates, the sixteenth century takes over. Knights and wenches roam the lanes, ready to chat, pose for a photo or spin you a tale. The Queen of Venezia holds court. Pipes and drums carry across the field, and somewhere a juggler is cracking three bullwhips at once.

Two weekends of tournaments, music, comedy and feasting, for guests of every age. Come in costume or come as you are; the village takes everyone in.

“By the time you've finished your turkey leg, you'll feel like you belong.”

The Queen of Venezia in a purple and gold gown waves as she leads her ladies-in-waiting and a helmeted guard through the faire

Being a true account of the fifth annual faire

A Day at the Faire

A fire-breather spits a fireball from the back of a rearing grey horse
Plate I. Fire on horseback, between the jousts.

Chapter the First: The Tournament

Once upon a time, on a field in Bonita Springs, the gallant knights of Venezia gathered to clash in epic duels. The Dark Knights rode again, and their joust, swordplay and ground combat were so Hollywood worthy that they left every soul in the stands on the edge of their seat.

II. The Cast

Through the lanes wandered knights and wenches, pirates and fairies, ready to chat, to pose for a portrait and to entertain young and old alike.

A blacksmith in a kilt works the forge as smoke rises and guests look on

III. Feasts & Market

There were medieval feasts and refreshing libations, turkey legs to savour, and a market brimming with treasures fit for royalty, while sparks flew at the blacksmith's forge.

A girl with a flower crown has her face painted by an artist in a red bodice

IV. Games & Family Fun

And for the youngest squires there were authentic medieval games, face painting and a Children's Realm of their very own.

And all who came lived merrily ever after.

Questions

Rules of the Faire

From peace-tying your sword to finding the privies: what to know before you ride in.

Send word

No pigeon to hand? Call 800-273-5794 or write to info@veneziarenaissancefaire.com.

Do I need to print my ticket?

Online tickets are print-at-home, on any ordinary printer. With your ticket in hand you skip the ticket booth and will call and go straight to the Castle Entrance. Keep your ticket confirmation: you'll need it for re-entry on the same day.

What happens if it rains?

The faire runs rain or shine. During electrical storms, heavy rain, high winds or other dangerous weather it may close temporarily. There are no refunds for inclement weather.

Can I bring my dog?

Yes. Well-mannered pets on a leash are welcome. Service animals stay on a leash or in a harness and under their owner's control. Please be considerate of other guests and clean up after your pet.

Can I bring food or drinks?

No outside food or drinks, with two exceptions: food needed for medical reasons (including nutritional supplements), and baby food or formula. Alcohol bought at the faire is drunk on the grounds; a valid ID is needed and no one under 21 is served.

May I come in costume, and bring my sword?

Please do dress up, in medieval costume suited to a family audience. A costume sword or dagger is allowed if it is sheathed and peace-tied: show it to security at the entrance. Blades that can't be sheathed (axes, maces, halberds, pikes, spears) and tipped arrows stay home, and real weapons, including guns, are not allowed. Drawing a weapon means removal from the faire.

Is the faire good for children?

Very. There's the Children's Realm, Poppy the Fairy, acrobats, knights and medieval games. Child passes are for ages 3 to 13, and guests under 14 must be with someone aged 18 or older. A few stage shows, such as Ménage à Moi, are bawdy comedy meant for grown-ups.

Is the faire wheelchair accessible?

The faire is outdoors and generally wheelchair friendly. Paths are grass, light mulch and dirt, with gentle changes in level. You're welcome to bring your own wheelchair or single-passenger ECV; there are no wheelchairs, strollers or ECVs to rent. Restrooms (the privies) are signposted throughout, and first aid staff are on site during opening hours.

Is smoking allowed?

Only in designated areas, and that includes e-cigarettes and anything else that makes smoke or vapor.

I lost something. Who do I ask?

During the faire, go to the Admissions Booth at the front entrance, for lost children too. Afterwards, email info@veneziarenaissancefaire.com with a description of the item and the date of your visit.

Can tickets be refunded or transferred?

No. Tickets are non-transferable, non-exchangeable and non-refundable, and must be used by the same person. Bags and items may be checked at the entrance, and the faire may refuse entry or ask a guest to leave without refund when circumstances require it.

Is there a dress code?

Proper attire, including shoes and shirts, is required at all times. Clothing with objectionable language or designs is not permitted. Costumes should suit the medieval theme and a family audience; the faire may refuse entry to, or remove, anyone whose attire it considers inappropriate or a distraction from other guests’ experience.

Will my bags be checked, and how should I behave?

All persons, bags, parcels, clothing and other items may be screened at the entrance, and the faire may refuse any bag, parcel or item. Please show common courtesy to fellow guests and faire staff: no profanity, and no unsafe, illegal, disruptive or offensive behavior.

Can I sell things, hand out flyers or perform?

No. Handing out printed or recorded material, selling goods or services (including displaying them for sale) and uncontracted performances are not permitted; every performance is scheduled by the faire. Unauthorized events, demonstrations or speeches, and using a flag, banner or sign for commercial purposes or to stir up a crowd, are also prohibited.

May I take photographs?

Yes, for your own keeping. Photography, video or recording for commercial purposes is prohibited. The faire may photograph, film, record or otherwise reproduce the image or voice of anyone who enters, and use it for any purpose without payment.

Are there any health precautions?

Please keep your distance from other guests, and stay home if you have flu-like symptoms such as a cough or fever. An inherent risk of exposure to COVID-19 exists in any public place where people are present, and older guests and those with underlying medical conditions are especially vulnerable. By visiting the faire you voluntarily assume all risks related to exposure to COVID-19.
